Buying Peruvian green coffee: a guide for importers

Green Peruvian coffee beans held in cupped hands

Peru is one of the world's leading Arabica producers and an increasingly important origin for roasters in the United States, Europe and Japan. This guide covers what you need to specify and contract Peruvian green coffee with confidence.

Start with the grade

Peruvian export coffee is classified by defect count and screen size. Grade 2 MCM and Grade 2 MC are top commercial grades; Grade 3, Mix Plus and Peruvian Mix serve value and industrial programs. For specialty, see Special Grade 1, Premium SHB and Gourmet HB.

Decide on certification

If your customers require sustainability credentials, ask for certified coffee — Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Fair Trade or organic (NOP/EU/JAS). Confirm the organic scheme matches your destination market.

Contract and ship

Confirm grade, screen, certification, packing (typically 69 kg jute bags), quantity, Incoterms (FOB Callao or Paita, CFR, CIF) and shipment window. Always approve pricing first. Tell us what you need and we will send pricing and an offer.
